The company PAMA SLOVAKIA still hides something interesting for us in its wide range of collectible metal models MAISTO. We get very interesting pieces on the table in a short time. Today’s model is from the ELITE TRANSPORT category, which we have been gradually mapping in our POCKET CARS section since the beginning of the year. The MISSILE TOW FLATBED set complemented by the beautiful FORD MERCURY from 1950 is not as new as it seems at first glance. MERCURY is already represented in older sets, but its curves still seem attractive to us.

Dnešný model je z kategórie ELITE TRANSPORT ktorú si od začiatku roku postupne mapujeme v našej rubrike POCKET CARS. Set MISSILE TOW FLATBED doplnený o krásny FORD MERCURY z roku 1950 nie je až takou novinkou ako sa na prvý pohľad zdá. MERCURY je už v starších setoch zastúpené, ale nám jeho krivky stále prídu atraktívne.
The metal model of the FORD MERCURY toy car from 1950 was designed by the manufacturer in 1/64 scale. The two-tone black and orange paint on the car lands and shows no signs of defect. MAISTO designed the entire model in his own idea and supplemented it with his own design ideas. Many did not miss the fact that this is a custom adjustment. However, the main lines of the manufacturer have been preserved, from the front grille, through the side lines to the rear bumper, the elements of the designer’s hand can be seen. The whole concept is fine-tuned with stylish, solid wheels with an orange rim. The MAISTO interior was designed well and managed with a number of acknowledged details at a relatively good level. The plastic chassis was also equipped with some important elements transferred from the original car.
Kovový model autíčka FORD MERCURY z roku 1950 výrobca navrhol v mierke 1/64. Dvojfarebné lakovanie čiernej a oranžovej farby autu pristane a nevykazuje žiadne známky defektu. MAISTO celý model navrhol vo vlastnej predstave a doplnil o vlastné dizajnové predstavy. Mnohým neuniklo, že sa jedná o custom úpravu. Hlavné línie výrobca zachoval ale od prednej masky, cez bočné línie až po zadný nárazník je vidieť prvky dizajnérskej ruky. Celý koncept je doladený o štýlové, masívne kolesá s oranžovým lemom. Interiér MAISTO navrhlo dobre a zvládlo s množstvom priznaných detailov na pomerne dobrej úrovni. Plastový podvozok bol tiež vybavený niektorými dôležitými prvkami prenesených z originálneho auta.
Sometimes it doesn’t make sense to us if MAISTO adds an unrealistic tractor to a nice set, as in this case. It was really difficult for us to determine from which truck this Flatbed is based. We looked at this truck a bit from a distance and we realized that it still looks very well at the whole set. The two-axle body with deep recessed wheels perfectly tuned the whole set. The movable ramp that carries the MERCURY and the entire superstructure, including the front fenders, is made of plastic. The two-tone painted cabin is made of metal.
Niekedy nám nedáva zmysel ak MAISTO doplní peknú sadu o nereálny ťahač ako v tomto prípade. Naozaj ťažko sa nám darilo určiť z ktorého nákladiaku vychádza tento Flatbed. My sme sa na tento nákladiak pozerali troška z diaľky a došlo nám, že i tak sa nám veľmi dobre pozerá na celú zostavu. Dvojnápravová korba s hlboko zapustenými kolesami dokonale vyladila celý set. Pohyblivá rampa ktorá vezie MERCURY i celá nadstavba vrátane predných blatníkov je vyrobená z plastu. Dvojfarebne lakovaná kabína je vyrobená z kovu.
The overall impression of the whole set is good, but we will hope for the future that MAISTO will fit similar sets more with more realistic tractors than it is with some already released sets. Let’s mention the perfect set CHEVROLET FLATBED AND CAPRICE 1987 (1/64, MAISTO) released on our website.
